I was determined to have a home with a patio before we moved to where we live now. Before, we lived in a high rise apartment building with nice amenities, but it was an ordeal to use them - especially in the winter months. There were days that I wanted to just sit on the porch and enjoy the sunshine, rain, or changing colors. There were days that I wanted some snow ice cream. There were especially days when I wanted to sit outside dawn to read and pray.
To my shame I have not used our patio nearly as much as I originally planed to. On the other hand, my husband who didn't understand why I was so obsessed about having a patio is out there for a few hours nearly every day. So I began to spend time on our patio too. Over time I've noticed that I breathe a lot easier when I'm outside. I also noticed that natural sunlight is much better to read by. And, the feel of the sun baking my skin feels better than being in a sauna to me (to a point).
The more I do outside, the more I want to do outside. Especially exercising - calisthenics and walking. Exercising inside is cool and has it's benefits. But, so far, exercising outside is refreshing, less strenuous, and more stamina inducing. Now I regret all of the days past that I would not gather my things to go to the pool, fitness center, or picnic area at our former home. I'm learning that life is so nice when we take time to enjoy simple pleasures.
Whatever you have to do - try doing it outside, especially while the weather permits. You may find that you like it much better.
In joy,
Andrea

I wrote a post about this very topic yesterday. Life is indeed better outdoors.
