I just finished playing one of my all time favorite on line games - Yoville on facebook. When I began playing this game, I spent so much time trying to earn money to decorate rooms and buy houses that my day time hours were nearly over before my work day had begun. I was growing out of control.
Knowing that addictions begin through abuse or excessive use of anything that you do not have the will power to control. I decided that I was not going to let a little game take me out. I finally realized why my children used to spend hours playing, what to me, were mindless games. Yoville for me touched on an unexplored creative talent that has been dormant in me - interior decorating. It's a kind of fun, for me, that I've never had before. Just like racing cars, going on adventures, flying jet planes. . . was a fun for them that may never become a part of their daily lives (I'm certainly not interested in becoming an interior designer).
DO IT NOW has became my new mantra. Yoville is now the treat that I give myself after I accomplish specific goals. From this I've learned that as long as I'm conscious of what I'm doing and how it's effecting me and my household - I have the power to change it. What are you spending too much time on? What activity is robing you of the joy, love, money... your heart longs for? What time robing activity do you need to control in order to make more effective use of whatever are your best working hours of each day? I encourage you to re-examine the things you do with your time every day. Re-prioritize those activities so that your best working hours of each day are the hours you spend working toward your short and long term life goals. During timed breaks or after you've accomplished a sufficient amount of work each day then reward yourself with the time wasting activity of your choice - for a pre-determined amount of time.(I know how much I've accomplished because I make a daily list and check off task as I go)
DO IT NOW! Is that a mantra you need to adopt?
In joy,

I look on blogging as being like that. It is a time sink but something that I get much from.
Funny - I read quite a few blogs too but I label them "educational" ;^}
