Good Neighbor, Bad Neighbor

I feel very fortunate to live in an apartment community that my husband and I enjoy.  It's quiet, clean, peaceful, and well managed; and we have some great neighbors.

This past week I was away for four days.  When I returned home early Sunday evening I was exhausted.  I wanted to check my e-messages and go to sleep.  However, when I pulled up to my car port I got really excited to see a Dish Satellite outside of our patio.  New life sprang up in me.  Even though my body was still tired, I was looking forward to seeing what channels Dish offered.  I also offered up a silent prayer of thanksgiving thinking it was a marvelous surprise from my husband (even though I didn't understand why he had the Dish put where I put my plants in the summer).

When I entered our living room I headed straight for our TV.  Nothing was new.  Then I went into our bedroom.  Nothing was new there either.  I called my husband - he didn't know where it came from.  Well, I decided to just check my e-messages and find out about the phantom satellite later.

OMG -  I couldn't believe that I did not have any wireless networks anymore from my home AT ALL.  I was feeling incredulous.  I yielded to my body's pleadings and went to sleep.  The next day however I was able to successfully use my notebook PC in our car - which to me proved that the satellite blocked our free WiFi reception.  So, I went to our managers office to report this incident - they are going to investigate the matter and have the dish removed.  My husband had a computer tech he knows hook us up with a wireless card so I can use my PC at home again.

I began to reflect back over my adult life and tried to remember if I had done anything so selfish to any of my former neighbors.  (Maybe it was the universe paying me back for a past wrong).  I only missed two days of work from this neighbors lack of consideration; and I will be able to put my plants back where I like them by spring.  - So all's well that end's well.  None-the-less, I have emblazoned on my mind the importance of considering my neighbors whenever I do anything that could effect them and the way they live.  I encourage you to do the same.

In joy,

Andrea

BTW - In case you're wondering, I have no desire or intention to pay for internet or cable tv service when a vast array of entertainment  is available for us to enjoy on-line and at no cost to me.
